Conquering Discouragement

God can take away all of our discouragement when we stay faithful and obedient to the Word of God. The Word tells us not to lean on our own understanding, but to trust that God in His sovereign will for you and me is always in charge of the situation. We are to acknowledge that--to show God’s sovereign control of our life. In the story of Joseph’s life experiences, it required strong faith to believe that in the unknown outcome of being thrown into prison, God would use all of this for Joseph's benefit. Yet at the time, it was all unknown territory. Joseph was unshaken in his conviction that the Lord was sovereign. His statement that God interprets dreams made clear that he was convinced that only God knew the future. Joseph immersed himself in the affairs of others who were also unfortunate. His care for the prisoners around him and his particular concern for the well-being of others was evidence of his commitment to help alleviate their suffering, rather than to concentrate on the nature of his own pain. This is for those that have learned to turn their pages of Scripture, and to gleam from them the promises of God, as reminders of His faithfulness. Many people turn from the word of God at the very time they should be turning to it.

Don't take your disappointments and discouragements to unbelievers. The Apostle Paul reminds the Hebrews, "Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the day approaching” (Heb. 10:24-25).  Receive the gracious invitation of Jesus to ask Him into your heart and life today! You can conquer your disappointments and discouragements. God is always with you and ahead of you.
