Repentance to a God Life

The repentant heart is a recurring theme that both Old and New Testaments encourage us to master. A repentant heart is one that is turned from a life of worldly desire and sin to one of adoration and honor to God. I have asked the question often, “Do you believe God is real"? This seems like a trivial question, but it really stands in the face of a life that is serious about including God in every aspect of one's life. It is easy to say there is a God, it is another matter to say God is real. If God is real, then what we read and know about Him from His Word is still relevant to our lives today. God says that His people should return to their God and wait on Him continually. Repentance precedes blessing, for God is never obligated to bless a renegade person. Repentance precedes healing even though God's compassion is present during our dark nights of the soul. Repentance precedes wisdom in that a man is wise when he submits himself to the things of God.
Is the posture of a repentant heart familiar to you and present in your life? I encourage all believers to become humble in our dealings with lifestyles and desires. God will forgive our sins, however, a repentant heart goes before the sin. As Hosea prophesied, “Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them" (Hosea 14:9).
